Are any programs using Fostering Futures program? Have you had good results? Any other feedback would be helpful.
Summary of Responses
CASA of Clackamas County uses it. For more information, contact Shari Fromm.
- They started using the program this year (2019), like it, and plan to continue.
- Raised money specifically to support work with Fostering Futures
- Like work with the ILP workers, but many kids choose not to participate in that program
- Have added what they call “Teen Talk”, an open Q&A brown bag forum where their Fostering Futures trainer and any CASA volunteers meet and discuss the unique challenges/issues/successes with teens and teen cases. They currently (Sept 2019) meet every other month. They have found it to be a great place to share knowledge, experience, and resources, talking in generalities, keeping specifics about the teen and the case confidential.
CASA of Polk County looked into it, but decided working with Independent Living Program (ILP)/DHS Caseworkers was more beneficial. Katie describes their ILP coordinator as a gem to work with. For more information, contact Katie Axtel.
CASA of Lane County has had it for a little over a year now. I am just now looking into measuring outcomes at this point.
CASA of Central Oregon used it for two years and then our grant ran out. We have applied for another grant and hoping it comes through!
Hi Jill,
How did your program measure effectiveness over the 2 year period? I am just now getting to that part after about a year and a half. I have some ideas but would love more!
